  2. Looks like when someone was colorizing the photo they never really finished.

Incomplete colorization process, or the one doing the colorizing is unfamiliar with the Frisco.

The E7A (EA7) in the photo was just 30-60 days from her rebuild into an E8A look alike.

I am very skeptical that her pilot and anti-climber were ever painted black.

Remember, this is one of Richard Crabtree’s colorization efforts, and what you see is not “fact”.

The colors around the Frisco, numbers, and coonskin are off too.

That is what happens using many of the auto-colorization programs.

Now some nimnul on Facebook will copy that image and use as proof that the pilot was black at some point in time.

Or even worse, some manufacturer may latch on to that image as a production sample.

Thanks, but no thanks Richard Crabtree! Please do not colorize Frisco photos.

This is an example of why not.

  8. Ha Keith my exact thought when I saw it was “this is how urban legends start”.

That is a good picture of SLSF 2002 as an E7A (EA7) in spite of the bogus paint colorization.

Would like to see the unaltered version of this picture.

I believe 2002 Comanche was the subject in the Frisco paint diagram describing the revised "famous horse/Red Bird", whichever you prefer, paint scheme to blend the 6 E7As (EA7s) in with the 17 new E8As.

    Incomplete and sloppy.

Missed the gold paint around the portholes, and slipshod around the cab door and grabs, and no red paint between the individual cat whiskers.

Quoting Pap Finn, the paint shop must have had "enough whisky there for two drunks and one delirium tremens" before that paint job.

Yeah, like a lot of stuff that Richard posts on Facebook.

He also does not really like people to offer "corrections" or critique to his posts, although he seems to tolerate Karl.

Also, I think he should disclose when he colorizes a photograph and posts it.

    Now that made me smile.

I have served time in his Face Book jail, and I have had my posts deleted.

He had similar reactions when he used to post here.

But that had more to do with flagging copyright violations.

  14. I learned a lot about the E7A (EA7) SLSF 2002 black pilot.

It is different from the title of your question, but is it from 1950 when E8As appeared that the same red became the paint scheme for painting the E7A (EA7) 2001-2005 from what they appeared in 1947?

Does the age of the painting time differ depending on the time when the E7A is remodeled to the E8A specification appearance?

I'm exploring, but I ca not find any material in Japan.

I'm sorry, but I hope you can tell me.

I am having fun with the O Scale KEY E7A 2000 and 2002 brass models in the photograph.

  15. My question yesterday was detailed in E7As made into famous horses posted by staff member meteor910.

I'm really sorry. Please forgive my lack of study.

It turned out that it was the locomotive shop in Springfield that converted they from E7A (EA7) to E8A specification and horse names in 1950.

The same paint as the E7A (EA7) Frisco / MKT Texas Special that appeared in 1947, changed to a horse name paint in just three years. I have solved a long-standing mystery.

It is great to be a member of Frisco.org.

Well, I said the magic word, and I am banned for life from all of Richard’s Frisco Groups.

He went nuclear, and I cannot even see posts in the groups.

    I feel so much better.

Apparently I did the same a few weeks ago.

I commented about an incorrect date on a photograph, one with a Mandarin orange and white diesels labeled as late 1950s, and the comment disappeared.

Today, I said something about one of his poorly colorized photos of a Mandarin orange and white F unit with a black pilot.

Now I cannot even see any of his groups.
