    Wish I had time to post on here more, but these videos are keeping me busy these days. Here is the latest one.

    Very cool of you. I’m thinking of building a small roundy round in On30 for a fictitious Jack’s Fork River Lumber narrow gauge tram. Unfortunately I suffer from too many ideas and too little effort.

    That sounds cool. You should go for it!

    I’ve already got a Bachmann On30 Heisler and a Shay and some log cars. Hmmmm. My grandparents lived in Winona for 7 years and I’m very familiar with area. West Plains, Birch Tree, Cabool, Current River, 11 Point and all the wooden mills from Greer Springs to Falling Springs.

    Sounds interesting Jim.
    Does On30 ride on ho track?

    Yes! I just went in my basement and ran my two On30 locos on the Zalma branch (most of it is still intact) without difficulty. I’m still considering keeping the detailed section of the Zalma Branch intact but removing the Richardson/Brownwood sections to make room for a small On30 tail chaser layout. I’ve got a terrible itch to model an old wooden Ozark grist mill and some Jacks Fork River scenery. I’ve canoed the entire area during my lifetime and it’s the most beautiful scenery I’ve ever seen. The smell of deep earthy woods and honeysuckle are purely intoxicating!
    So sorry for hijacking this thread, I should know better. I’ll stop now.

  7. Funny Jim, I’d have to live at least 200 more years to get to all my ideas!!

    You aren't hijacking it all. I love how you describe your appreciation for the Ozarks and I feel the same. It is a big part of why I am doing this project. Have you watched my videos on building my grist mill? It based on the Hammond Mill not too far from Jacks Fork.

    Here are the links. I'm pretty happy with how it is turning out. I'm thinking about making the water wheel turn when I get to it.

    That’s a great idea! I may have to copycat you. I lay awake last night thinking about a water powered mill being the main feature on my micro-ish layout. An old rickety wood and iron bridge crossing nearby with weeds growing right up to the tracks in places. So on and so forth.

    Jim, you suffer from too many ideas and too little space.

    @dboone74 ,

    This is a fine series. I really enjoyed the latest planning video and look forward to where you will go with this project. I also appreciate how much you are emphasizing the video and audio quality. (and the KC Chiefs gear).

    Thanks, Bob. I'm looking forward to seeing where I go with this project too. I'm hopeful that the series is interesting to both model railroaders and those not in the hobby. I've been happy with the quality I've gotten from shooting with just a couple of iPhones and using an inexpensive mic for the voiceovers.

    I've started uploading the videos to Facebook too. Their algorithms suppress links to outside websites, like YouTube. Not sure if you are a FB user, but it would really help the series grow if you'd be willing to like my page on FB and maybe share some of my videos.

  19. Just found your videos and hopefully this is some motivation for me. Too little space and too little time= false starts

    but the oldest has moved out and I have designs for her old room. Now to convince the missus that I need another project( like two possible three Jeeps aren’t enough) but I really need a small piece of the Ozarks in my home.

    As side note, I’m in Mansfield (wife is a Laura Ingalls Wilder fan) right now. Then we’re going to Eminence to revisit the Alley Spring grist mill. I’m taking area photos for a possible project mini layout. Forgot how much I love this area! We heard trains passing through town last night from our B&B. Loved it. Thanks dboone7 for rekindling the spark!!
