19 MAY 2021 Am searching for information about Frisco in Carl Jct, Mo (NW of Joplin). The STB processed the abandonment of the SLSF line between Carthage, Mo and Columbus, Kan in 2002. But still seeking info on the abandonment of the other SLSF line thru Carl Jct, that ran NW from Joplin toward Pittsburg, Kan. (This is NOT the interurban line that ran parallel to the SLSF and KCS between the Joplin and Pittsburg.) 1. Seems that segment between Carl Jct and Opolis was abandoned perhaps 1960??? 2. Any ideas when line southward from Carl Jct toward Joplin was abandoned? Also interested in other history of SLSF in Carl Jct; did see the photo of the depot and maps, and also saw photo on page of City of Carl Jct. thank you
On May 27, 1959, the ICC granted permission for the Frisco to abandon its Girard Br between Opolis and Carl Jct (11.8 miles). The Barely Nuth’n’ abandoned the former Frisco Tuckaho Branch, between Carl Jct and J&G Jct (11.3 miles) during 1985.
