All these photos are from the collection of Bud Laws and are used by permission.

Also, most of these images have written details about the particular locomotive.

I will place that information on here as well. Some of what is written I do not understand. Those will have a "?" at the end.

You may email me for more details.

I also have a few other shots, if I can get permission, I will post them here.

Just released from the West Shops after being rebuilt into a 4-6-4, SLSF 1062 takes a turn around Springfield to stretch her legs a bit.

It appears that someone has managed to talk the engine crew into an un-official portrait.

Wow - look at the sun shine on the domes and reflect off the side rods and chrome on the cylinders!

I do not think I realized just how long the tender seems when compared to "typical" Frisco steam power.

    Nice shot!

From Richard Crabtree on Frisco Rails Across Missouri.

It is 1937 and the Boys at the Frisco West Shops in Springfield, Missouri have been busy!

Here is their latest creation a semi-streamlined Frisco Hudson class 4-6-4 SLSF 1062.

On June 30, 1937 the locomotive was to make her maiden run from Springfield, MO to Kansas City, MO pulling train No 104.

She reportedly could do 100 mph, tracks were better shape back then.

Articles from the newspaper Springfield Leader, June 30, 1937.

    Karl Brand:

The first five SLSF 1062, 1064, 1065, 1066, and 1069 of the 4-6-4 type locomotives were built to replace the 1500s on trains No 105 and No 106. Down in the Arkansas Delta, crews were known to make up lost time.

Frisco Power has a nice photograph of 4-6-4 SLSF 1067 pulling train No 806, the northbound "Memphian" into Southeastern Junction.

It is a pretty good look.
