79 year old son of a frisco railroad father who lived in springfield, mo and worked on gas-electric motorcars and baldwin diesels. remember the harvey house on the southside, roundhouse shops where dad worked. left many a night for school at rolla from the springfield station. mom was a harvey girl in trinadad co as a young girl. took trip to california in 40ties, remember having stateroom accomodations and running the length of the train and standing on the observation platform with brother with no adult supervision. kids today would not get away with this. don't know if this is what is wanted, if not, let me know. am wanting to search for frisco pictures, history etc that relates to family. gene

I'm still around, lost wife of 60 years, 2014, remarried 3 years ago, living with my cancer, hormone treatment for past year, at 90 years, thanking the Lord each day for life. Still able to operate my PC, smartphone, tablet, and enjoy reviewing pictures on Frisco. Not a prolific writer, but am looking for history relating to Dad, who was working for the Frisco in Springfield, Mo from the 29-30ties. Ralph Poschel worked many jobs on gasoline electric, diesel engines in the shops and around the Springfield station, when trains would stop for water treatment. Used to have many of his training manuals from Baldwin, but passed on to brothers in Kansas City and St Louis. If anyone in the organization would have known of him, would appreciate conversation. Knew Mr. Anderson, who was an executive in Springfield, living on Grand Ave, several doors from us as a high school kid and then at MSM where one of his son, Jim also attended. Hope someone will see this and respond with some memories.

    Gene,
I never know what to say aside from “cancer sucks.” Keep fighting. And keep reading and enjoying the Frisco.

Man, to have heard stories from your Dad on working around the station.

Have you had a chance to search any of the old Frisco Employee Magazines? They might have some mentions of your Dad from that era.

Best Regards to you and your missus,

    Hi Gene,

Below is a copy of your Dad's Frisco Employee Card, found on TheLibrary.org Frisco database.

I am a volunteer with the Railroad Historical Museum-Grant Beach Park, Springfield, MO. In our museum is a mannequin wearing a Harvey Girl uniform, probably similar to what your mother would have worn when she worked as such.
