When it rains it pours, our oldest dog Nina had a stroke Saturday afternoon and had to spend the night in the hospital. She is a lot better now and is at home.

I haven't post any comments previously but I have read your posts daily and have shared your emotions, both good and some days not so good. I am so happy that Cynthia is now at home and you have my prayers for her to have a speedy recovery and good health for both of you.

Thought you might like an update on Cynthia, she is able to go for several hours without oxygen assistance. It's been since 6:00am to now and probably be a couple more hours before she turns on the oxygen. A home care nurse came by on Saturday and was impressed with Cynthia and how she took care of the trach by herself. Another home nurse will come by tomorrow around noon, she will be our regular nurse during the week. The first one works on the weekends if Cynthia needs assistance.

We finally took down our Christmas tree tonight, I left it up because Cynthia missing Christmas.

    Week 1,

Cynthia is doing great and healing nicely. She has a doctor's appointment later this month to replace the trech to a smaller size, hopefully she will be completely off of the trach in three or four months.

    Week 2,

There is no change in Cynthia's condition, she is doing great. Only has to wear the oxygen at night when she is sleeping and sometimes during the day but not very often. The doctors appointment is on February 25th to change the tracheotomy device to a smaller size.

    Week 3,

Man does time fly. Cynthia has been home for three weeks and is doing fabulous. Being home has been the best medicine for her recovery. She has a voice box so she can talk and she will see the doctor next Tuesday at 2:00 pm so he can replace the trech device to a smaller size. Right now she has a size six and will have a size four put in.

It's been four weeks since Cynthia was released from the hospital and she is doing great. She only has the oxygen turned on at night when she is asleep.

The only problem was we missed Cynthia's doctor appointment last Tuesday because our Honda Pilot was having trouble with the battery and alternator and we didn't want to get stuck on the road. We have fixed the problem with the truck but the doctor's appointment schedule is backed up until September. I'm going to call him tomorrow morning and see if they can work us in some day this week. The appointment was to change her trech to a smaller size so we don't want to wait until September.

Thought I would give you an update on Cynthia, she has been home from the hospital 159 days and is doing fantastic. She still has the trech but hasn't had to use oxygen since March 4th. We have avoided going to hospital to have the trech removed because of virus cases going up in Tulsa area.

Today I gave her doctor a list of equipment she doesn't need anymore so he can alert the medical supply company to come pick up the equipment.

We greatly appreciate your thoughts and prayers during this ordeal. Really glad it's almost over.
