Is anyone here using JMRI for programming and or train control? I'm having difficulty getting my lights to work on the new Athearn GP38-2 with Tsunami sound.
I use JMRI for programming locomotives and for operations (switchlist generation). Not sure if I can help with the new Tsunami 2, but let me know the question and I will try. -Bob T.
I think I would qualify as a subject matter expert on both accounts. First to get access to all that the Tsunami 2 decoder have to offer, be sure to download the latest version of JMRI (it is currently 4.12+Rb6A9BB1). To get the right decoder for the new Athearn Genesis GP38-2 models, select New Loco, SoundTraxx, Tsunami 2 Diesel OEM Genesis, TSU-GN2200 GP38-2 w/ beacon/strobe. Then when using Decoder Pro (JMRI), on the Basic tab (where you set the address) be sure to select 28/128 speed step format(recommended) for the Speed Steps selection otherwise the decoder will not function properly. I don't know why the programmer for JMRI changed that to default to 14 speed steps, but it was a surprise to me.
