I do not know if anyone has seen the book which has just been released about the Birmingham Terminal station, written by Marvin Clemmons. It is a really nice book about the history of the station and the railroads that used it. It includes many pictures of the station and the trains that used it including of course the Frisco. I am thoughly enjoying it as I am now reading it for the second time. I can highly recommend it to any Frisco fan!

Looks like it's available at templeoftravel.net
Should be a great companion to Clemons and Key's 'Birmingham Rails'

Is anyone interested in selling their copy of the (TRRA) Terminal Railroad Association of St Louis Historical & Technical Society's publication for the year 2009, (Issue Number 69)?

I would like to buy the 2009 issue 69 also, Jim. If you find two copies I would like to buy one. Do you know how much it costs?

Do you know anyone that has an extra copy of issue 69 or would want to sell one?

Sorry Jim, I don't. People do sell these on eBay from time-to-time. That's probably the best place to watch. I have bought several TRRA publications that way.

Hi! I just ordered your father's book for my brother's 80th birthday. Your dad and mine had to have known one another. Dad was VP of Frisco at that time. There was a John Reed who was a good friend of my brother ... not sure if he is your relation, but it was in Springfield. I was born there, but we moved to St. Louis when I was a few months old.
I cannot wait to see the book. I know my brother will love it as our family was just about raised on the Frisco.

I recently picked up a copy of the August Railfan and Railroad, from a supermarket magazine rack, of all places, and discovered a great ten page article on my favorite class of Frisco steam, the Russian Decapods. It's by Jeff Terry, with the assistance of Don Wirth and Parker Wilson, and covers the history of the Russian Decapods in general, with special emphasis on the Frisco's. Lots of photos. Nicely done.

If you haven't already seen it, and are interested, hobby shops sometimes have back issues of R & R.

I gotta say, I didn't know R&R was even published anymore. I always liked that magazine. My LHS doesn't carry any mags anymore. That is sad as according to him too much space not enough sales.

Has always been my favorite locomotive as well. I need to find a copy of that issue.
Larry, can you obtain another copy for me from your source?

Doc's had 3 or 4 copies when I left there yesterday. One might call Tom Teeple there to reserve a copy.

I ordered a copy directly from White River Publications. They sell single copies of all their magazines.

Does anyone know the subject of this year's TRRA H&TS magazine?

    Thanks, Tom G.

    Tom -
Yes, Chicago & Eastern Illinois RR. Their trains serving StL from Chicago (The Zipper,et al), their involvement in the complex East StL rail network, and a lot of C&EI background.

It was a neat little railroad - my dad was a fan.
