Atlas 50′ Precision Design Boxcar Atlas has announced two more road numbers of their 50′ Precision Design Boxcars. These boxcars had been previously released in road numbers 42470 and 42044. New item/road numbers are 50 002 550/42040 and 50 002 551/42200. Atlas’ promotional language states: Built by ACF in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s, this ready-to-run model comes in both smooth side and rib side versions as per the prototype. Nice looking, but I have drawers full of brown boxcars needing to be renumbered. More cars than I need for the layout, much less the era-inappropriate ones. I was thinking I need to clear the inappropriate cars out to raise money for metal wheelsets. Don't want to let the "multi-era" bug bite me while I'm not paying attention. Steve M
