Anybody know of any hobby shops worth visiting in the Memphis area? I'll be passing through on my way to Alabama and was looking for somewhere to check out.

It's probably not on your way, but if you do happen through Jacksonville, AR there is a nice shop there. A little more selection than the one in Bald Knob, but they have some other stuff going on there. Both are in MP territory, of course.

    Steve,

I checked that one out last time I was in Little Rock, it was a nice store.

    Brad,

There is a good hobby shop at the intersection of Summer Ave. and White Station. Kind of hard to find. Its behind Panchos Mexican restaurant in a shopping center on the southwest corner of the intersection. The general area is in the north east side of town where I40 from Nashville splits into I240 north and south.
I can't recall the address or the name of it, but it in a shopping center.

Sorry I can't help anymore. I used to live Memphis a long time ago, but I've forgotton so much.

    Hope this helps

    UCES,

I believe that one is Midsouth Hobbies, it's on the list to check out. The computer lists another one Model Railroad and Hobby Shop, but thus far I have not been able to contact them by phone so they may no longer be in business, thanks.

That's correct, Model Railroad and Hobby Shop has either moved or is no longer in business. It was located on Sycamore View just north of Macon Road.

Midsouth Hobbies is my favorite type of hobby shop. It has tons of used train stuff as well as new items.

There is another hobbyshop in Paducah Ky called "Fast Freight Hobbies" located on Holt Rd.

If there is anything else I can help you with, just let me know.

    Good Luck!

Model Railroad and Hobby is out of business. That used to be the main hobby shop I went to in Memphis. I have not been to MidSouth hobbies.

Checked them both out Midsouth was pretty good, Fast Freight didn't open till three. I looked through the door and it appeared as thought they had a fair amount of inventory but I didn't wait till three to find out.

Did Check out Mid South Hobby this weekend. Christmas Shopping, lol. Good Stock of All Scales. New and used equipment. Staff very friendly and if they didn't have it they will get it.
