Also: Midland Railroad in Baldwin City, Kansas, The Wichita Museum Of Transportation, Belton And Grandview Railroad (old High Line and Leaky Roof trackage, Atchison Railroad Museum, and, of course, Show Me Model Trains in Grandview, Mo - one if the best train shops ever! Lots of great railroad books and mags too!

Also Country Caboose Railroad Museum near Duenweg east of Joplin.

There are also Kansas City Southern, Katy, and Rock Island Historical Society members who would maybe also want to attend this. The Katy folks in Parsons aren't too far away.

If you are interested in the bus tour on Sunday, I suggest that you get your registration sent in right away. The size of the bus will be predicated on the number of advance registrations that we receive. The exact itinerary for this tour is still in the works, but it will be worth the time and money.

Hi guys ! Looking forward to the convention and looking forward to presenting a clinic on the cabooses. I have a couple questions. I would like to get some advice on how to take images that are stored my computer (pics of the caboose project) and transfer them to something that is presentable at the convention. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Also I have a friend that would like to attend, are there registration forms that we need to fill out and send in with our fees? Thank you. Paul

Paul, when setting up the 2012 convention, I believe Keith Robinson knew where to get a projector that plugs into a computer.

Just got back from the Belton, Grandview and Kansas City Railroad. Small, but nice, and nice people.
If you happen to be in K.C., stop for a visit, they can really use our support.

The convention is 19 days away. It is sizing up to be a really good one. You won't want to miss it. There will be plenty of activity for fans of both the Frisco and the MP. We have a tour of the MNA facilities in Carthage scheduled for Friday morning. Look for a post on the revised schedule a little later today.

If you are planning on coming, it would be helpful, from the planning aspect, if you would go ahead and pre-register and make your payment. This is especially important if you would like to have a table at the swap meet. Also, the deadline for reserving a room at the convention rate is September 25th. If you plan on staying overnight, you should get this done ASAP. The bus tour is filling up, quickly. If you are interested, you should reserve that, very soon.

If you have questions, you can send me a PM or email at kwlove126@gmail.com. You can look at more info here.

I sent in my registration late August and when I called the Holiday Inn reservation folks, they stated that the rooms were pretty well gone for the discounted rate. So, any one thinking of going, get on the stick and get'er done.

There are 17 presentations/clinics lined up for Thursday evening through Saturday evening. We will have a tour of the Missouri & Northern Arkansas office building (former MP depot) and diesel shop in Carthage on Friday morning. Dale Rush owner of Blair Line has offered to open his facility located east of Carthage for visitors on Friday morning, as well. In conjunction with the swap meet and model display, we will have an area for railroaders to share their stories with anyone that desires to listen. The bus tour on Sunday morning will be a nice event. It is filling up, so you need to get your payment in ASAP. Take a look at the latest schedule which is included here.

I am really disappointed that I will miss this event. My employer scheduled something that is a required attendance event and I had to drop my vacation plans to attend the joint meet.

Like Keith, I also will not be able to attend. This is a disappointment as I am a long-time member of both frisco.org and MPHS; it would be fun to see how the two groups share interest in the two railroads, which were rivals in many areas. But, over all of September and October we have a parade of house guests coming and we are fully booked for the weekend of the SLSF/MP meeting.

    To All:

Regretfully I too will be unable to attend the convention. I actually booked my hotel room very early on and had every intent on attending until I decided that it was more important to undergo another round of in-home physical therapy. Good Ole' Uncle Sam requires that I can only go to church and the grocery store. The good news is that my therapy seems to be helping me with my strength and mobility. That means it's easier to get downstairs to the train room. I hope everyone has a great time!

A Mopac/Frisco gathering isn't considered "church" by the bureaucrats? Ain't they go no mental health folks on their protocol committees?
We will miss seeing you, Bob, but it's good to hear the stairs are less of a problem.

    Steve and All:

I purposefully didn't mention that there is one more caveat to the government rule and it mainly applies to women and that is that they allow a trip to the beauty shop (haircut) each week. Those of you that know me how that doesn't come close to applying in my case since I'm totally bald!

If I was your therapist I would say get your haircut at the convention and call it a therapeutic trip to practice gait and transfers:)

I have looked and a little checking, but wondering which of the programs or clinics are frisco.org folks? There are a few that may belong to both. I have always liked Mopac and worked with quite a few employees from time to time, after it became UP lots more. If I feel good, I am going. My last trip, was canceled because my wife had a MS relapse and did about 8 hospital days. Really would like to see the Blair Line tour. Several of the events sound very good. Looking forward to Paul's presentation on the cabooses. If someone has a little time and could, would really like to hear which of the programs have some frisco content, I seen the MOPAC board meeting is closed, I supose someone could join and attend. I have thought about joining, so far I have limited my self to the rail lines that I worked for. (Frisco, BN, BNSF, KCS, CSX and FEC. I like CSX, although I got the roadmaster job in Miami, but really couldn't afford to buy a house their, that turned out to be a blessing. FEC offered me a position, in a lot better place to live.
