    Here is a photo from my collection of SLSF 838 pooled on the UP in Seattle 3/20/1979.

    Always thought something about it looked odd. At the time I was not aware that some of the Frisco U30Bs did not have lights on the nose. This was one of them.

    Boy, were not those things "beautifully-ugly", or "ugly-beautiful", brutes!

    Those things and the F-M switchers were about the only Frisco things I cared about in the Mandarin orange and white era.

    Look at all that oil.

    As a former shop laborer I have washed oil off many a unit.

    Must have been parked next to an oil well that was a "gusher".
