Where was the Frisco Station in Claremore, OK? I have been searching the web and have yet find any pictures or location. Also were was the Missouri Pacific Station? I am going to do a model of the Frisco Station at the end of passenger service but do not have any details. My "pipe" dream is Amtrak will someday restore service to Tulsa via Claremore and ST. Louis, MO.

Their does not seem to be much left, The small building on the intersection of Will Rogers and JM Davis. Was this used as a station? Nothing else is left on the site. Their is a siding that would of been right in front of it. I suspect the main line was relocated. Do you have any more information?

There is not a lot there anymore. If I am right the former depot is now a used car lot. The small brown building, now a phone store looks like more than a maintenance building. I will try and get some photos today. Across the street or the old route 66 is a strip mall including a check cashing store and recruiting center.
Is there a place that has the time line of the changes?

    Ranma,

The the Frisco's depot was south of today's West Will Rogers Boulevard (a/k/a Oklahoma Highways 20 and 88) and west of today's South J. M. Davis Boulevard. These streets were formerly respectively known as West 3rd Street and South Wichita Avenue.

It was located on the east side of the Frisco's main line of the Cherokee Subdivision. The south end of the depot was in line with today's West Patti Page Boulevard. This was formerly known as West 2nd Street. Today the area is a public parking lot.

In the second photograph you can see the freight / express room end of the depot at the southwest corner. This was shot from the west side of the main line track looking northeast.

Note the depressed track adjacent to the depot's freight doors. This 4 to 5 foot depression permitted baggage, express and box cars to be at platform height for loading / unloading. There is a metal pipe rail along the top of the edge on the passenger platform end and main track side of the pit.

The depressed depot house track came off the main on the south (railroad west) end just before the West 1st Street crossing. This track was in place for many years after the demolition of the depot . It was used as a set out for bad order cars and maintenance of way equipment.

The south end freight / express dock of the depot had 2 saw tooth shaped extensions near the curb line of S. Wichita Ave. These were for backing in trucks on an angle for loading and unloading. This prevented them from extending too far into the roadway. The angle was close to 45 degrees.

A cool detail feature of the depot were the light bracket mounted on the exterior walls. The brackets were coonskin shaped plates attached to the wall with 2 bolts. The brackets supported the a hook shaped "j" arm that ended in a metal horizontal trumpet shaped bell shade reflector. These helped to cast the light from the bulbs down to the walkways and protected the bulb from rain. In the photograph you can just make out the lights north and south of the operator's / agent's bay, below the horizontal ledger.

The lower quadrant train order signal is also a common feature at the Frisco's depots. Note in the photograph the agent / operator is holding orders for an eastbound train. Therefore, the order board for east bound trains is set for stop (horizontal). At the time of the photo there were no orders for west bound trains. As a result, the order board for west bound trains was set to clear (vertical).

The depot was 109 S. Wichita Ave., Claremore, OK.

    Hope this helps.

    Ranma,

From the Frisco's depot, the Missouri Pacific (MP) Railroad's depot was located 4 blocks to the east.

Their depot was located west of their main line track and east of North Muskogee Avenue. It sat sat between 300 blocks of West 4th Street, to the north, and West 3rd Street, to the south. This area is also now a public parking lot and the former street grade crossing has been closed at W. 4th St.

Their depot address was 116 N. Muskogee Av., Claremore, Ok.

Their freight house was across the tracks, one block to the south. It sat south of W. 3rd St and north of W. 2nd St. It was located east of their tracks on N. Wenona Ave. This area is now the parking lot for the First Baptist Church of Claremore.
