:) While driving on Highway 96, old Route 66, I came across this station.

It has been moved there - I am guessing. It is sitting on a foundation - with a garage in the walk out basement in the rear.

It is in a town called Albatross, MO at the intersection of Highways 39 and 96.

The station is North of Mount Vernon, and south of South Greenfield.

I asked some towns people, they did not know it was a depot.

So who does it belong to?

    Is it one of ours?

No guesses are bad, since I do not know.

Thanks Karl for the heads up. :)

I did not know that the depot was still around.

I wonder when it was moved there?

Whoever moved it, gave up on their project. :(

I remember it being there during the 1960s.

No doubt, it was moved not long after abandonment. The Aurora-Greenfield bump is still visible in many locations, and if one knows where to look, one can see where the old ROW crossed old US 66 as it headed toward Miller to the north.

It is actually the Missouri Pacific depot from Stotts City, MO.

The Miller depot did exist several years ago, still in Miller and very much remodeled into a habitation dwelling.

    Thanks for the information. :)

I was wonder if was a Mopac depot or not, since the roof line was somewhat different than most Frisco depots.

I just found it odd that some of the locals did not even know it was a railroad depot.

I have some shots of the depot in Miller somewhere.

I'll see if I can't locate them and get them posted.

    Hey Jeff,

    That would be great.

I would love to see what changes were made to her, after they moved her to Albatross.

    :)

My source, an ex-MoP engineer, told me that it was from Hoberg.

But whether it is or not I can't confirm at this time. But I will share a little story he told me about a rail gang. I think this was about 1980 or so. They had a rail gang from the deep south up this way doing some work. They had the whole work train parked at Carthage, bunk cars, water car, crane, machinery, the works.

Well it seems this crew liked to party it up in town, chase the women and cause all kinds of grief for the local management. I guess after a couple of days of that, the Train Master had the work train moved to Hoberg.

And if any of you happen where that is, it ain't in walking distance of anywhere.
