Gotta love a covered wagon. Nothing quite like a 97 degree August day spent inside the engine room standing on a wood bench alongside the engine with another guy lifting a cylinder head, rod and piston, and cylinder liner by hand out of the engine block on one of these sweethearts. Then cleaning the block and putting a fresh power assembly in. All done by hand. If the locomotive was recently shut down and still hot it made it better. I've done it. A lot. Inside the locomotive pictured above. And the one behind it. And all the others Frisco owned. Them was good days back then. Retired now. Think I'll go fishing.
