Hi All: The virtual rails of my Frisco Arkansas/Indian Territory route have finally arrived at Monett. Can ANY of you help me locate where the following would be circa late 1880s - early 1890s? * The depot. *The roundhouse. Think it's save to "assume" that the general layout of the yard (the FS Sub wye, yard area, etc) in its later years would be very similar to what was there "then", only lesser in scope? ANY input, or documents, photos, old track charts, and such would be a great help. Thanks.
Information for this era is best gained through Sanborn fire insurance maps. Thank you Ethan! That will serve my purposes right there! Compact, simplistic, essentials. Would have been nice if it also included enough map to see the depot location. However, I reckon, typically, depots were in the same general location throughout the decades. Off to start laying track and building the yard at Monett!

Hi Chris! Fortunately, the U of MO has the same Sanborn's that Ethan linked above from the LOC. (Whew! I would have kicked myself had a more detailed 19th century map had surfaced!) And, as I mentioned above, that's what I used to extrapolate my version of Monett circa late 1880s. Andre
Measure twice, cut once. FWIW, if you or others are looking for more recent Sanborn maps for Missouri... The University of Missouri Ellis Library Special Collections has full size Sanborn maps accessible for viewing. In the pre-smart phone camera days, I spent several lunch breaks sketching out Hayti, Mo. from 30s and 40s maps. And the State Historical Society of Missouri’s new center a few blocks away undoubtedly has some excellent resources. https://shsmo.org/node/30 For anyone who comes to town, be sure to holler. We had a Booche's outing a few weeks ago. Always worth the trip. Always. Haven't been to C.J.'s in a while; that is one of my son's favorites (and, Karl Brand, the wee lad you met years ago at the Franklin Roundhouse campground is now old enough to buy me a beer).
