    Folks,

A day that we have dreaded is here.

The Frisco Archive has posted every day since its inception in 2013 - almost five years. This has really been a colossal undertaking.

We are running low on content to post. We are not out of content but we are getting near the end.

In order to keep posting we need money, or better yet, a large collection of slides. Some folks have told us that they will not share their slides or photos. Ok, your choice. I'm proud of what we've done anyway.

We will continue to post. Not everyday until we get more content but there is more to come.

Thanks so much for your support.

It's unfortunate that there may be slides or photos out there that folks refuse to share with a non-profit organization that shares same with other interested parties. Surely they don't expect a large financial benefit from hanging on to them.

Charlie, you can use my photos of Frisco 1522 for the Archives. You said before that you would have to resize them, is that still true or would it be possible considering needing photos for the Archives? I can give you five right now and several others at a later date.

Greg has all of my slides. Donated them to frisco.org via Greg right before we moved to Florida in Sept 2016.

I don't understand the "I won't let anyone else see my stuff" mentality. I've known enough folks who have passed on and had their collection end up in the trash can because no one in the family cared. If that's your way of thinking, well, so be it. You'll get a lot more credit with your name attached to an image in the public eye than attached to a pile of cellulose at the bottom of the landfill.

Sorry for the rant. The thread touched a nerve. :D

Unfortunately there is a lot of this type of hoarding...when I was a union rep everytime I went to Springfield or somewhere on Frisco territory someone would say "you otta see what I got in my basement...Roger

I’ve got a few slides in my collection I have not shared, either by posting here or by allowing them to be posted on the archive.

The reason I have not shared these is I am not sure of the copyright situation... ( I.e. did I purchase the copyright or not... it’s a really cloudy subject sometimes... ).

I have a handful of caboose slides that I have bought from ebay over the years and would love to see them on the archive, always meant to send them in. The copyright is of no concern to me. what address can we mail them to?

For decades, I've been of the opinion my photos/slides weren't good enough quality to "go public". Some of them were requested for publication decades ago, but were rejected because the technical quality wasn't up to the author's standards.

    We would take a chance.

I will drop you a PM.

Our standards are what you see on the Archive. :)

Slides only, or scans of original photos okay, also?

If you can scan in large format and send them via Dropbox, etc., that is fine.

A lack of posts recently due to my work schedule folks. In a few days we will be back to daily posts.

Copyright issues normally arise when images are used as part of a for-profit venture (e.g., the Frisco Vol. 3 effort). Posting them on a non-profit web site that is primarily seen by a limited number of members may or may not be a problem in the strictest sense, but I seriously doubt whether the original photographer, if indeed he or she can be identified, is like to raise much of a stink. Worse case, we might have to take the image down.

A while back on eBay someone was paying top dollar for Frisco slides, once folks knew they could get $100+ per slide that's when the really good stuff started to show up for auction...There is a LOT of stuff out there being held back for whatever reason...Roger
