I live in Washington, DC these days and cannot easily get over to Missouri. Does anyone have any photographs of the Joachim Creek bridge? Something around 1980 would be great but not totally necessary. Even something fairly recent would help. It looks like a great modeling project. Tom Potthast
It looks like it was about MP 35.5. I believe it was a Warren deck truss about 125' long. Tom Potthast
Tom, I see it on Google Earth. It is at Latitude 38.255784, Longitude -90.432000. Unfortunately, I live in Kansas City, so I cannot get there easily. However, this is what I could capture.
Bridge T35.4 North Approach: Open Deck Pile Trestle; 9 panels; 9, 6-pile bents; 1, 6-post frame bent; driven 1923; 4 ply chord; 6" x 8" x 9' ties; max height is 39'; 123' long. Deck Riveted Truss; 125' long; 10" x 16" x 16' ties; max height is 40'; erected 1903 South Approach: Open Deck Pile Trestle; 8 panels; 8, 6-pile bents; 1, 6-post frame bent; driven 1969; 4-ply chords; 6" x 8" x 9' ties; max height is 36'; 106' long
Keith, During 1979 in preparation for the pending BN merger, the Frisco prepared a system-wide bridge inventory. This is my source.
Karl, That information is very helpful. Since I am modeling 1980, the bridge inventory is right up to date. Is there a posted standard for the trestle bents on this site? Thanks. Tom P Gainesville VA
Tom, The trestle approaches would have used the Frisco standard plans. I think that I have seen the standard plans posted on this site. You will have to use the search tool. If not, I have a standard plan book.
Tom, Please see the following thread for the trestle bent standard plan. http://www.frisco.org/shipit/index.php?threads/standard-plan-odpt-4-ply-chord-6-pile-bents.10189/
