Thanks Keith! I print up several of these for use around the house and a couple more for friends. Ken
I really do like the SD45s. Besides most of the other calendar images I have are not as high resolution, so they don't reproduce as well.
Here is a possibility to satisfy another constituency in the group. Of course, Don Wirth or Kieth could execute it better. Happy Holidays, George
Interesting to see the Frisco calendar design template for 1950 and 1951 that Keith used for his recent "revised" 2012 Frisco/frisco.org calendar. Back in the 1940's/1950's, the SLSF usually had several diferent calendar versions for a given year, and repeated some of them for more than one year. The attached are not good quality pics, but note on the 1951, the Frisco used the same template as they did in 1950 for this particular calendar. But, notice they updated the passenger diesel from the E7 wearing The Meteor colors on the 1950 calendar, to show the then brand new "Racehorse" E8 on the 1951. I wonder why they did not also update the freight "chicken wire" F3 (only SLSF 5000 and 5001 were) to the later phase F3 that made up the bulk of the F-unit fleet in 1951. I also like the "billboard" style "1951" on that calendar. Ken
I was just looking again at the 1951 calendar pic I posted above. To my eye, the "Racehorse" E8 is wearing Dulux stripes, not gold stripes. I'm sure that was a convenience for the printer, but in hindsight, was a portend of the future! They were all wearing gold in 1951; the change to the lower cost, more durable Dulux stripes didn't occur until many years later. Ken
Anyone that can provide me with high resolution scans of older calendars with help me in providing greater variety of newer versions.
