Here is a shot of the SLSF 4310 as an oil burner half in and half out of the passenger livery.

Note the locomotive cab does not have gold fretwork. However, the tender is adorned in passenger themed Doric gold fretwork.

4-8-2 SLSF 4310 was rebuilt from SLSF 44 at the Springfield, MO West Shops in 1937.

I do not know who photographer is, but date on the negative is 7/10/1948, so she did not have too much longer to go.

The second engine is a low numbered 1000, probably the SLSF 1007 since she was around Kansas City for a long time. It could also be the SLSF 1014.

I am pretty sure that is a Art Gibson, SR. photograph.

I have all of his pictures in my collection thanks to his son Art Gibson who lives here in Topeka, KS.
