Exclamation Missouri-Illinois Special Run Boxcars - COMPLETE!

Folks, the Micro-Trains Missouri-Illinois special run boxcars are complete. There are still just over 100 cars available for purchase. These cars have not been announced outside of TrainBoard (and here) but will be announced to other sites soon. The 100 cars will probably sell fairly quickly.

If you are interested in a car, please visit http://www.specialruns.com to order.

    Charlie,

Are these the N scale or HO? (I'd like to price and place the order for the HO cars if they are ready.)

    Thanks...

Micro-Trains is N scale code for "Not HO".

    Craig,

We are not close to the numbers we need for an HO run. Initially there appeared to be a lot of interest but it looks like we are far short of where we need to be to make this work. It takes time to get numbers so I will keep this going for a month or two and if we get up to 150 people (orders) will make this happen. Stay tuned for more...

Just bought one. Should look good behind my SD45. The build date on it is the same year I was born which is kind of cool.

This will be the perfect subject for my first N scale weathering project. Check out all the awesome weathering in this prototype photo. Hot dog!

Charlie...it might be a good idea to reiterate how and where we can indicate interest, etc. for an HO run. I don't think this is well publicized as to how to sign up. Who's marketing the "potential" HO version?

    Buck,

The HO car would probably be manufacturered by Atlas. Problem right now is, they don't have the right car so nothing is set for sure. The HO thread about this is here.

Thank you, Charlie. The Mike n Ike is a favorite of mine and I'd sure like to see it get done. I asked a few of my friends over at the MPHS and they seemed to be totally in the dark about the project. I'm sending the link.

Thanks Buck. I appreciate that. We need all the publicity we can get for these projects.

I know this may be a stupid question, but I'll ask, fictitious or real road?

Hey Charlie--Received my N scale M.I. special run boxcar, arrived safe and sound. Very neat. Thanks for engineering the project. You other N scalers ought to order before they're all gone. See link: http://specialruns.com/

Certainly plenty of good opportunities here for the N-Scale Frisco modeler, especially for those modeling the River Division. The Frisco had an interchange with the M&I on the St. Louis Subdivision just north of Ste. Genevieve, where the M&I had a car ferry operation at least into the early 1950s.

Frisco Power has a nice photo of 2-8-0 #1330 with a northbound freight, crossing the M&I diamond. One can barely make out some of the pilings for the car ferry. There used to be a neat model of this steam-powered boat at the Ste. Genevieve museum downtown.

Thanks, Charlie. This will be my first N scale weathering project. Ought to be a hoot. I bet you're going batty getting all those cars shipped!
