Hello, everyone. While I am officially an ICG modeler, I have an interest in GATC Airslide Covered Hoppers and sometimes, I stray and make other related decal sets outside of my ICG focus.

On that note, I am pleased to announce two new decal sets for Frisco General American single-bay 2600 cu.ft. Airslide Covered Hoppers.

The Frisco leased GACX Airslides from General American Transportation Corporation starting in 1954. Later, by 1961, the Frisco was taking delivery of new Airslides lettered SLSF. These new decal sets cover the two GACX leased series (that I am aware of) as well as the 8 separate SLSF/Frisco deliveries of cars, totalling over 100 cars. The sets are broken out by the body style of the car -- the "Early" style cars in GA-10 and the "Intermediate/Late" style cars in GA-11.

Available in HO and N Scale.

GA-10 Frisco General American 2600cf single Bay Airslides 1954+ (Early body style)
http://home.mindspring.com/~paducah/ga10.htm
Enough lettering for 4 complete cars. $12.00

GA-11 Frisco General American 2600cf single Bay Airslides 1965+ (Intermediate & Late body style)
http://home.mindspring.com/~paducah/ga11.htm
Enough lettering for 3 complete cars. $12.00

Check out my website for more details, prototype photos, decal photos, and related information.
http://home.mindspring.com/~paducah/index.htm
Just scroll down to ther GA-10 and GA-11 set listings...

Thanks, everyone!

Hi Guys,
Just wanted to let you guys all know what's happening in Newburg lately. The renovation of the Sullivan Motel is complete but the owner has decided not to open it to the public, instead it is up for sale through Investment Realty of Rolla. The Lyric Theater has been renovated and is open on select Saturday evenings throughout the year. It features live plays and singing. A schedule is available from Pat Stevenson. The Houston House is being renovated and is open on Thursday for Soup and Sandwich lunch. It is also open on Newburg Day for Biscuits and Gravy breakfast. Newburg Day this year is on June 8th. The Corner Bar has been shut down and is up for sale through Investment Realty of Rolla. However, the city of Newburg has passed an ordinance prohibiting any more liquor licenses from being issued inside the city limits so anyone looking to purchase it would not be able to restore it back to its original glory, perhaps someone would turn it into an old fashioned soda fountain instead. Finally, there is no more Blue's Market as it has been shut down also. Blue's Too is only open on occasion for morning breakfast and closes at 10 AM. The other liquor store next to Perry's Bar has been shut down due to the owner (Earl) having health issues (stroke in Sept. 2012). There is talk of the Post Office being closed up and the High School being moved to Doolittle also. Right now the only business open in Newburg on a regular basis is Perry's Bar, everything else has been shut down and is for sale. On the flip side the city of Doolittle is growing by leaps and bounds. There is a new Dollar General store at the intersection of old Route 66 and Hwy. T. The town has seen an increase in population from 499 in 2000, to 649 in 2010 when the last census was taken. Work on the Newburg city park continues but is just crawling along due to washout from all the rains. In summary, Newburg is in its twilight years and unless someone with a wad of cash is willing to rescue the town and restore its buildings it will never attract businesses and grow. It's a sad fact that after the loss of the Frisco in 1980 most of the towns population saw the "handwriting on the wall" and moved away in search of a more lucrative career. The population of Newburg today is made up of us old farts who love the old "burg" and those who are too poor to relocate.
Until next time,
Does anyone have any diagrams or photos of the 958xx series? None are shown in the previously posted freight car diagram book as it skipped that (those) page(s). I was wondering to: a) just used the over length cars or b) cut 10 foot out of the middle but need to see what could be involved. EDIT - just found the Apr-May '92 All Aboard that showed the 42 footers. I may have to wait a bit to ensure that I have that issue as the online version doesn't enlarge all that well.

According to the 1901 ORER, the cars owned by this company are marked for the "Kansas & Texas Coal Company", are numbered 400 to 599 inclusively, 60000 lbs capacity, and are equipped with air brakes. The interesting link to the Frisco is that the 400 series of the cars were assigned to the Frisco. The 500 were assigned to the Katy. I'll be doing cars 400, 404, 406, 409. These were seen in San Antonio.

Here's the prototype picture. These will be scratch built. Construction to start soon. The photo belongs to me as purchased.

Hello everyone, it has been awhile since I posted on here, or even been on here for that matter, I have been ill with a severe lung infection that almost sent me to the scrapyard in the sky. But now I am on the mend and working on my locomotive servicing facility again and I am wondering, other than a roundhouse, turn table, coal towers, water towers and cranes what other types of building would typically be seen in a FRISCO facility. I have added a section gang building and I am also wondering, I have 3 semifore signals and want to wire them up and use them, would it be typical to see one or 2 for that matter facing away from each other to enter and leave the servicing facility in signaled territory?

I will post some new pictures up of my progress so far so ya'll can see what has been done so far, feel free to critique any and all pictures!!!!

It's time for you steam folks out there to start thinking about Frisco 1060-1069 4-6-4s in HO. These are advancing to the serious planning stage and I will be able to work with you on prices.

Retail is probably going to be about the same as the Firefly pacifics and I will know more pricewise later as planning goes on and there's a quote from the builder. These will be top quality models and we are still deciding on how many versions to run. There will be an unstreamlined version with a choice of pilots and main drivers. I'm thinking there will be at least two if not more versions of the skirted ones with different lettering/striping/pilot/main driver choices.

So plan on what you may want and get in touch and I can "soft" reserve now and when they are announced, I will have more particulars. Charlie Dix, I am still having the problem on Frisco.org with new paragraphs. Nowhere else but here. Making me crazy.
