Re: UPDATED: Frisco Slides on eBay

BIG NEWS

The slides arrived today (apparently). A large box was delivered from Canada. To be honest, I have not opened the box because I just got off work and I have to get ready to leave for Boston and Rhode Island first thing in the morning.

When I get back in about 48 hours, I will box the slides up and ship them to Missouri where Bob Dye will begin the process of scanning them. Every time he scans a picture and sends it to me, I will upload a picture so you should start to see results from this project in a couple of weeks or so.

When I open the box I will

The Frisco and Steam - a History of Frisco Steam Locomotives

Attached is textual information taken from The Frisco and Steam, originally published with pictures by now-defunct Midwest Railroader Magazine.
The data is a compilation of knowledge from many Frisco-apostolic individuals; first hand witnesses and collectors of such information. Harold K Vollrath, a good friend of mine, known for the many pictures he took of steam locomotives, was a major contributor. Pat Hiatt, a member of this forum, was also involved in the collection of data. Pictures were not included to avoid potential copyright issues.

Thanks to Roger Taylor (RogerRT) for sharing.
This is provided for personal use and historical record only.

Re: ATTENTION: Frisco Slides on eBay

UPDATE

Ok guys and gals, here's where we stand on this: We won the auction, meaning that all of these 900 to 1000 images will appear on Frisco.org scanned as best as we can get them scanned. We have two members who have volunteered to scan the slides so we will work on the logistics of that. There's something fun to look forward to.

MONEY

We had pledges from some of our very fine members here to cover the costs, however;

Oil's Well that ends well. I guess...

Shifted gears a little bit and decided to do an American Model Builders Glenwood No. 2 Oil Derrick w/ Walthers Oil Pump, mechanized. I will be putting a small oil field of about 5-7 of these on my layout. What is Texas without oil? C'mon now. The kit is not too difficult, but if you don't pay attention to orientation, like I didn't, you mess up. I had to rob a second kit to provide parts for the first attempt. Here is the tower, built, painted a rustic brown. She's wood, and will be weathered and oiled. I've already built the pump and am in the process of working that up with detail. I'll post up pics a little later on that. Moving on to build the platform.
Lets have a show of hands.

I've been asked by an importer which models would be more popular in brass. 1500/4100s or the 1060-1069?
Lets hear your opinions.

Don't Fear Resin or Building a Westerfield Sawtooth Boxcar

I've heard mention of some folks who shy away from resin kits because they are unfamiliar with them. I started building the Westerfield sawtooth boxcar kit circa 1912. I don't mean to flood the site with project threads but I'll keep this as short and as simple as possible. Here's a photo of what's in the box. A one piece body, floor casting, weight, detail parts, Titchy styrene brake set, grab irons and decals. You have to supply your own trucks, Andrews, and couplers.

Here's the tools I mostly use. Self explanatory but I must add: use several new #11 blades during the build

Scout Special on the Highline

The Boy Scouts of America was incorporated on this date, Feb 8, during 1910. If you were a Scout in Kansas City, it's a good bet that during the summer you attended Camp Osceola, which later became the H. Roe Bartle Scout Resevation. Bartle was the Scout executive of KC and later KC's mayor. Camp Osceola made its debut during the summer of 1930, and the Frisco ran a passenger extras to Osceola to deliver the Scouts and then ran return moves to bring the Scouts back to KC.
Coming Soon: Frisco Decals

Hello Y'all,

I cannot give you a full announcement as of yet, however, it will be coming soon. A decision to make Frisco decals has been made. Frisco steam decals will be coming shortly to include freight, passenger, Doric Stripes, Frisco Fast Freight, Meteor, Sunnyland, and Will Rodgers steam locomotives, along with tender data. A host of Frisco 34, 36, 40, 41, 45, 50 ft boxcars, 8 and 12 stake gondolas, 40 ft refrigerators, flat cars, and subsidiary roads will also begin to follow. First sets will hopefully be released starting 3rd Quarter of this year, possibly earlier. That is all I can say at this point.

You can help me by showing your interest. Please post up your thoughts.
