I want to model the Clinton Sub in HO. Need to know about train operations from the 40's through the early to mid 1970's.

I have some track charts and timetables. Can anyone give me any kind of overview of traffic, motive power etc??

Dave,

See "Timetables/Local, Road Switcher and Yard Assignments, 1/15/1968" and "Timetables/System Time Table effective October 17, 1971, PG. 42" for typical operation early sixties to early seventies. There is an excellent web page at: http://members.tripod.com/~martin_t/hyline.html.
Hope some of this helps.

I might be able to help you. I once typed in. Railroad depots of Missouri, and way given a link to a site. That listed alphabetically. Towns in Missouri, and the pictures of their depots. Came up. I saw several depot pictures . Like the one in Clinton,La Tour, and Blairstown, and Osceola. My parents came from that region. So it was of interest to me. My name is David Boehmer. My email is boehmer1955@yahoo.com. If I can help you. Let me know. As I found a web site that was by a Jerry somebody, and he had a treasure of pictures. I'll do what I can. You might try. Railroad depots of Oklahoma. They had a good shot of the Frisco depot in Henryetta.

Chaining notes of SLSF ex-KCO&S trackage near Clinton, ca. 1917. I apologize for the poor quality of these scans, but it's the best I could do with photocopies. Originals are in Missouri State University library archives/special collections.

After the website refused the uploads yesterday, I shrunk the images by 50% in each dimension before trying again.

Digital pics of diagrams from completion reports, etc., for North Clinton yard from 1923 to 1950. Originals are in the Missouri State U. archives. Note that the stock pen retirement diagram from 1949 also shows the east end of the yard and part of the long elevator spur to the southwest. Also note disappearance of coaling trestle between 1937 and 1943, replaced by a much less elaborate coaling spur behind the roundhouse.

A rather blurry digital pic of a diagram of the downtown Clinton passenger spur. From Missouri State U. Poor quality of the picture is my fault.

I have heard about two bridge fires on the Clinton Sub but I didn't know about where they were or when the incidents took place. That explains why the rails north of the Hwy 7 crossing at clinton were rusted and weeds gorwing up on the track before the line was removed. Service between KC and Clinton probably would have lasted a little longer if the bridge fires hadn't have happened. Gary Wayne
