Can anyone tell me if the frisco hauled tank cars. If so, which ones were common? I would like to have some in N scale.

The Frisco hauled many types of tank cars. Here are couple of links to a 10,000 gallon version with Frisco markings. There are decals available in HO scale, so you might find them in N as well.

I'm not sure of the reporting marks on the cars, but Don Wirth has a beauty of a William Barham photo from 1943 behind a 2-8-2 at SE Jct., heading south on the River Division.

Depending on your time frame and where you are interested in modelling you could see a wide variety of tank cars

The most hectic activity took place in the war years when shipping oil by sea became hazardous business due to U-boat operations on the East Coast and in the Gulf. A huge amount of oil moved over Frisco rails in long blocks until the pipelines were finished in 1943

Later movements would have included company oil for steam and diesel locos and still later you woudl have seen larger cars for the chemical and foodstuffs industries as well as LPG cars

As to what type of tank cars you would see, well that's hard to say since it depends so much on when and where. During the war years the oil traffic mostly moved in 8,000 or 10,000 gallon cars owned or leased by the oil companies. There was a huge number of cars owned by Union Tank Car Line (UTLX) and other leasing companies like general American as well as by oil companies like Sinclair.
