SLSF 290-294, ALCo S2's

Though the S2 was a fairly successful design, these five S2's were the only yard switchers the Frisco obtained from American Locomotive Company (ALCo).

This diagram does not reflect the later transition of SLSF 292 into the "Headless Humpster" (See my "Roster Tale" article in the June, 1988 issue of the Frisco Museum's "All Aboard", vol 3, no 1). This change to a cabless booser unit happened in 1958.

The ex-NEO ALCo switchers - S2's SLSF 295 (NEO 703), SLSF 296 ( NEO 704) and SLSF 297 (NEO 705), plus S4 SLSF 298 (NEO 706) came along in 1964 when the Frisco acquired the NEO.
