New guy, new depot photos

Hi, everyone. I didn't know this site was out there - when contacted about adding some of my recent photos, I decided to join, both to see what all is available, and because this allows me to load larger versions of the photos. So here are Roaring Springs, Quanah, and Paducah. Unfortunately they are not in the best of light.

I am also a new member. I was raised in Vernon, Texas and now live southwest of Houston in Lake Jackson. I vaguely remember the Frisco steam engines switching the yard. (I lived about 2 blocks west of part of the yard) This would be in the early 50's because the trestle over the Red River was washed out about then ending service to Vernon. I am seeking any information, photographs, or diagrams of the facilities which would have been located in Vernon. I enjoyed your photographs.

Paul-I did some research on final dates anything was run into or out of Vernon after the washout. Let me do some digging and I can get you the final date.

Also, on page 94 and 95 of Frisco Power by Joe Collias are photographs of local passenger train #604 behind 4-4-0 185 being readied for departure. The caption reads in part "Not many months after the late Mr. J. T. McNamara of Vernon, Texas, photographed these scenes, the Red River rose up from its banks and carried off the Frisco's bridge, effectively cutting Vernon off from the rest of the system." A photograph of the arrival-departure board reveals a date of June 30, 1951. -Rich

The Paducah depot looks alot like the Antlers depot. Did the Frisco have many depots with similar architectural styles?
