HI All,

Does anyone happen to have a track chart showing the layout of Galloway and Ozark as they would have appeared during the 1970s?

I've been doodling sketches for an Ozark Branch layout again, and I realized I never have found a track layout for these two locations. I have a pretty good handle on how things were laid out on the rest of the branch, and an industry list that Ron Williams provided a few years ago, but no drawings of the prototype locations.

Thanks,
Paul

John Sanders wrote a real nice illustrated article about the Ozark Branch ("Chadwick Line") in one of the last All Aboard magazines from the Frisco Museum. Maybe someone here knows which volume and number that is??

Hi Tom,

I have that article. It is in http://www.cbu.edu/~mcondren/Frisco/Frisco-Museum-All-Aboards/AA2001.v14.2.pdf

It covers the improvements of the Ozark Branch up to the City Utilities James River Power Station, so the power station could take 100 ton hoppers.

Ozark isn't covered in the article (other than to say there were no improvements past the power plant).

There aren't any detail track plans included in the article.

:) Well the aricle you posted inspired me to go out and see what most of this looks like in 2009

First is the MK Junction - from John Q Hammons Parkway (Sherman Street) & Phelps Street looking West

Second is the MK Junction looking East

Third is the Ozark Turn on the right.

If you go to google maps and start at Lake Springfield you can see and follow the right of way in both directions.

:) Been there - done that :D - I even traced the line to Chadwick - and it has been gone (from Ozark to Chadwick) since the 1930's The trees give it away.

:) Great - I will be tracing Ozark to Chadwick on my next visit - mainly looking for right of ways. Unfortunately, there is not much left. The station area in Ozark is a car wash :(

:) Pt .6 - South of the Power plant on the way to Cassidy, Mo - there is not much to see. Most of that section is on private property. Once you hit Cassidy, Mo things start to look up. The first shot is looking SE from Hwy CC and Fremont Road. This section heads over to 22nd (Air Park Road) - which most of this road did not exist to the line was abandon. hich takes us to shot no.2 looking in to the Tracker Boat plant (owned by Bass Pro). From here to the Station site you can see some of the roadbed, but it does not photograph well due to the underbrush.

Shot no. 3 is looking SW at the Ozark Station Site at N10th and W. Farmer street - currently it is a carwash. Shot No.4 Same spot looking NE towards the gas station and the next bit of roadbed.

Shot No. 5 is looking NE over Hwy 14 (W. Jackson St.) towards the Finely River. Shot no. 5 Shows a the roadbed (under heavy brush) to the right. And a bridge suport to the far left between the trees.

Shot No. 6 is all that remains of the bridge over the Finely River. This portion of the line was remove in the 1930's from here to Chadwick, Mo.

See links below of the old Bridge

Shot No. 7 is the old mill east of the bridge. The mill still has it's siding, the only rail left in Ozark, Mo Shot 8 is of the Finely River Dam & Bridge. And finally an old postcard of The Finely River, Mill, RR Brdige, and Wagon Bridge
