Hello group,
Are the new accurail 41' 6" gondolas a good starting point to model or do I need to make major modifications? Also can anyone provide a photo? I have the frisco book from Morning sun but it doesn't include the 41' 6" gondolas. Thanks in advance for any help on this matter.

Larry -
My view - I don't think the Accurail gondola works for the Frisco, much as I would like it to, as Accurail has produced a neat model (from the reviews I've read - have not seen one yet).
The Accurail car is an eleven-panel, ten-rib 41'6" gon. A quick review of my Frisco gondola car diagrams, 1919-1971 (got it from the former Frisco museum some time ago), shows the SLSF had no such gondola configuration.
Get the Proto 1000 and/or InterMountain USRA composite gondola model if you want a car of this length that the Frisco actually had.
I notice Accurail is going to do this car in a Frisco version anyway. Not unusual - Accurail has taken many of their prior models, well done though they are, beyond the limits of prototype reality. Not a problem as long as you understand it.
