For those of you living in Oklahoma you might see Frisco wood caboose
#129 on I44 going from Joplin, MO towards Tombstone, AZ. It was
loaded yesterday by Smith & Chambers RR haulers and left this morning via truck. The caboose was built in the Springfield shops in the Fall of 1948 and retired Oct. 1974. It was purchased in 1975 by Jim Stone of Joplin
and was displayed next to the Rafters restaurant at 20th. and
Rangeline Road until the early 1980's when it was moved to the Stone's
home on north Rangeline Road across from Connie's Antiques. It was
purchased by Jeff Cooney in 1997. Jeff sold it in 2007 to James Clark
of Tombstone, AZ. It is to be made into a room at a caboose themed
bed and breakfast.
