For those of you living in Oklahoma you might see Frisco wood caboose
#129 on I44 going from Joplin, MO towards Tombstone, AZ. It was
loaded yesterday by Smith & Chambers RR haulers and left this morning via truck. The caboose was built in the Springfield shops in the Fall of 1948 and retired Oct. 1974. It was purchased in 1975 by Jim Stone of Joplin
and was displayed next to the Rafters restaurant at 20th. and
Rangeline Road until the early 1980's when it was moved to the Stone's
home on north Rangeline Road across from Connie's Antiques. It was
purchased by Jeff Cooney in 1997. Jeff sold it in 2007 to James Clark
of Tombstone, AZ. It is to be made into a room at a caboose themed
bed and breakfast.

Some shots taken on move day for SLSF, caboose 129. A correction to John's post and my mistake but the car was built in the fall of 1946 rather than 1948. In October, 1974, the caboose was moving light from Joplin to Carl Junction, MO when it was involved in a fatal grade crossing accident while moving north across Fir Road. The resulting damage which was very minor, was reason for Frisco to take the caboose out of service. Jim Stone, a Joplin restaurateur, purchased the car in early 1975 and displayed it at the business and then moved it to his residence in Webb City in the early '80's. I purchased the car from Jim in 1997. A job relocation to Texas was the unfortunate cause for 129 and I to part ways. After much debate, the car was sold and moved to Tombstone, AZ this week. The car for the most part, is in wonderful condition but was in need of some attention. Jeff Cooney, Lindsay, TX
