It's hard to have both free time and good weather to work with, but I finally got a bit of both to work with the new air brush some more. Got white paint on last night, and some of the masking tape this morning. Hoping to have these 3 test subjects done tonight.

  2. I wish I had a shrink ray it would sure save a lot of time Ethan!! LOL. Thanks for the good word. I appreciate and glad you guys enjoy my odd taste. I never want to risk somebody setting down a model just like mine beside me, so I hunt for ugly ducklings. Ha

Your projects look good. What did you choose for the orange?

I need to do some side by sides to make sure, but I think I like a 50/50 mix of Frisco Orange and SP Daylight Red, which is what the F7B in the middle is painted with.

If we took away Steve's weathering stuff.
We would all be saying Modeltruckshop Who?

  8. Hahahahhaaaa I can’t even joke about that!!

Funny though because I keep my 1;1 truck like it’s in the showroom, I hate my wife and kids even getting in it.

See if I can beat that. I have a 2018 4-door Audi that no one has ever been in the back seat/

I made some progress on a second Bitter Creek Models 36-ft boxcar build. The second one (St.L.&G.on the left) I think is turning out a bit better. I braced the side walls a little extra to try an avoid the small amount of cupping that I saw on the first attempt (C&EI). I also primed all of the card stock front and back with a light coat of Tamiya primer. A little more attention to the instructions this time and more careful attention to the running board on the roof to get it straight. The trucks are Tahoe Model Works 5-ft arch bar models. Both decal sets are custom from Bill Brillinger at Precision Design Co. The "Frisco System" herald dates to about 1900-1905.

Hope all are doing well. Hopefully some pics from the new layout section later this week.....

Nice looking cars Bob. Those under-frame details really pop.

    Hey All,

I did not make the Wednesday deadline, but here are a couple of workshop updates...

The new section for the layout is coming along. Today, I was able to get some time in to glue up the interior bracing for the torsion box construction. Add the legs and the bottom webbing, and we will be ready for some pink foam fun on the top. This section will have entirely scenery and will have a 2-inch foam base and the track will appear to be up on some fill to give a below grade view for photos. Maybe two more weekends away from starting scenery.

I also grabbed a small air compressor (with tank) for the airbrush. The larger one that I had been using is not very convenient for quick jobs and is noisy as heck.

After an a-dapter kit to get my Paasche airbrush hooked up, the backlog of car weathering is being addressed. Most of these cars have been faded and some gray/black/grime washes added to the roof, etc. Time to bust out the Pan Pastels and colored pencils.....

Edit: Grabbed some better images with the good camera. Hope you all had a good weekend.

Bob, your structure for layout modules are a work of art, the internal frame reminds me of aircraft structure with the holes for wires. Nice job Sir.

    It will fly.

Looks great Bob. Your collection of early 1900s equipment never ceases to amaze me

While I haven't found anything to officially indicate that the UP sent their DD40X units in power pools, these beast were just too cool to pass up. I think they'll look nice with a Frisco unit or 2 sandwiched in there to pull the NWF/FSE

  17. I’ve never seen a pic with a DD40 but I have pics of Frisco U25b s and UP DD35 Bs together.So I’d say it’s close enough.

If they're in your possession, could you scan and upload them to the forum? I would really appreciate it.
