Never fear I did take a couple Frisco pics too! Here is the SW 1500s I got from Tom a couple years ago and a couple customer cars I got finished up this week too.
You are right Jim! After being warm here all December. It was cold Easter day. I could barely hold still to take pics I was shivering. If you look close at the conrail engine what looks like white patches on the blue is really snowflakes and ice crystals blowing around. I’m ready for spring.
The SW1500s look like a winter shot from out back (except the power line is on the wrong side of the tracks )!
Hey All, I will be away from Frisco Land on Wednesday, so here is a small contribution... My blind end caboose met with a bird-related accident when a house wren flew in the back door of the garage and decided to knock it off the shelf over my workbench/office. I had made the windows with microscope cover slips, which look great, but don't take falls well. Anyhow, tuned it back up a bit and am working to add running board braces and will add air hose details. I added a few details to the combine, including windows and marker lamps. I am trying to think of ways to make this car a bit more realistic...maybe redo the underframe details? Can you get a 3D printed interior? I also built the Accurail CP Fowler boxcar, adding archbar trucks from the parts bin and wire grabs on the roof. So the 1905-1915 collection is growing. Take Care All, -Bob T.
Sigh!!! I don’t know how I lost my modeling mojo but I live vicariously through the work and skills of Bob T. and Joe Lovett. Carry on my friends. Outstanding modeling pulling at my heart.
Thank you for the compliment Jim. I don't think I'm to the same level as Bob. It's been busy here lately so haven't worked on anything for the last month. But that is about to change, just a couple more days and my modeling time will increase. Joe
@Jim James , I can send you some decal sets...nudge nudge You will notice a number of the photos still feature your models! Thanks all and take care. -Bob T.
I missed Wednesday like usual but here is a couple night project for my stash. It started as just a cheap Walthers Mailine car. I got on the super cheap on eBay. It was missing the logo signs on the doors but I made some from styrene and used some K4 decals I had that included the logo. I was shooting for maybe a late 80s look. Pre-graffiti but still worn out. Anyway, enough chatter here’s some pics.
Happy Workshop Day All, (Great Stuff @modeltruckshop ), In my unending torment of @Jim James with hopes of bringing back some Zalma Branch, I started the first of two early 1900s boxcar kits from Bitter Creek Models. They are 36-ft cars in a style common to the 1890-1905 (ish) timeframe. These came in on Monday from an order placed over the holidays. These are wood/cardboard kits with a number of resin/metal/plastic detail parts. The instructions are good, and in particular, there is an excellent description of underframe details for the brake mechanism. You build up the wood frame for the car: The underside of the frame has markings for most of the details there, making it easier to build up the K-brake mechanism. Then work on some underframe details. Some rigging you build yourself from brass wire: I used the same monofilament from my Accurail mods here and will add the retainer line as I do the brake wheel details. The air lines are taped in place until I get the coupler pockets in place and the air hoses. As of tonight, I have been attaching the sides (be sure to get everything else done on the frame, including weights, as the car gets buttoned up pretty tight when fully assembled. You can see that the sides have pre-located grab iron an bolt detail positions. Very convenient. (Edit) A bit more progress this evening... So far, so good.... Hope all are doing well. Take Care, -Bob T.
