I urge everyone to get a copy of John Winfield's print of his painting of the Frisco Meteors meeting at the Springfield depot. You can get all the info at the website Winfield Railroad Art. Highly recommended! You can view a sample at the website. Tom G.
It's been a while since I've seen Winfield's work. (I remember him in the paper magazines decades ago.) His proportional abilities have vastly improved. There are some very good paintings at his site. The Rock Island at Kingfisher, OK is another that is particularly outstanding to my eyes. (But. admittedly, I like the Rock Island.) Andre
Andre - Another Rock Island fan here! It ran thru my grandfather's farm mid-Missouri outside of Gerald. Certainly, had I not attended MSM at Rolla and become such a SLSF fan, I would have been a RI modeler, or perhaps GM&O. K
I like the Frisco Meteor's Meet also Tom. Thank you for posting the link. There are a lot of great prints available. Joe
I also have the "Meteor Meet" print. I wish it weren't so grainy up close, but from a normal viewing distance it is spectacular. I have the well known Meteor print showing E8 "Sea Biscuit" under the StL Union Station train shed above my desk. After I get the "Meet" print framed, I plan to alternate them each month! K
Over all, I have been very pleased with the Winfield prints. They frame very easy. I have used the same frame from the Michaels store for the 3 of mine and even the boss likes how they look. Tony LaLumia Wichita, Kansas
