It looks like a GE U25B.

Yes, for sure a GE U25b, 2500 HP. I'm having trouble reading the number on Mike's slide, but it looks to be SLSF 824 or 825. If so, it is a Phase IV U25b, delivered to the Frisco in January, 1966. This is part of the last group of U25b's the Frisco ordered, SLSF 824-831. They had the steepest slope on the short hood, which is clearly visible on Mike's slide. The second unit is another U25b, while the third unit looks to be a GE U30b, 3000 HP. One of them is a bit out of tune, as it is smoking quite a bit, not uncommon for U-boats.

One thing we know for sure - they are all "chugging"! The GE 4-cycle turbocharged FDL engine usually made a chugging sound when it was under load.

A higher resolution image reveals the lead unit is 829.

Thanks for all you replies. Now I'm really confused. Mike has it as an SD45 on his site but the others on it don't look like this one. If someone can answer this it would be highly appreciate it.

    U25-B, NOT an SD-45.
