How many of you frisco.org members have wanted to build a Westerfield kit specific to the Frisco, but have not done so because of the high cost?

Mr. Al Westerfield offers almost a thousand HO freight car kits. They are all very well done, are accurate to the prototype, and are well documented. Plus, they are fun to build! Al advertises his freight car kits as "the alternative to brass"!

Al Westerfield offers only five HO kits specific to Frisco prototypes:

Westerfield #3810 - USRA DS Box Car (the Frisco had more cars of this type that any other RR)
Westerfield #3860 - USRA DS Box Car, modernized
Westerfield #10604 - 36ft Coal gondola, inside stake
Westerfield #11201 - 40ft OB "sawtooth" Box Car, original
Westerfield #11211 - 40ft OB "sawtooth" Box Car, modernized

Al prices his kits at $33.00 each ($34.00 for the gon), wants $7.00 shipping cost, and sells only direct - no dealers. Thus, for example, a Westerfield #3810 USRA DS box, his most popular Frisco kit, would cost you $40.00 total.

Here is a chance to obtain a surplus Westerfield #3810 I have at a bargain price if you are interested. I am offering this as I already have two other #3810's and don't need to build another, even though this is a great kit and makes up into an excellent looking Frisco car. Al's decals (included) are very nice! I just bought a #3860, and plan to build it instead of the #3810.

I can offer this at a low cost as I obtained it for a low cost ($21). That's why I bought it - low cost.

This surplus #3810 kit is new in the box, unbuilt, unmolested, complete with all parts, including Al's excellent instruction sheet, Al's excellent data sheet on the Frisco USRA DS box cars, and Al's excellent decals (the decals are in two styles). It comes in the original box, with parts still wrapped in Al's tissue paper. As with all Westerfield kits, no couplers or trucks are included.

This car rode on Andrews trucks, which are available from many suppliers - Accurail, Tichy, Kadee, Proto 2000, Walthers, etc.

I'll sell it and ship it to the lucky buyer for $25 total to a buyer in the continental US, via USPS Priority Mail. That's only $20 for the kit plus $5 for the USPS shipping. The first frisco.org'er who asks for it gets it. This is a good deal - a NIB Westerfield prototypically accurate Frisco USRA DS box car kit for only $25, rather than $40, delivered to you, complete with great decals.

Let me know ASAP if interested. Contact me via a PM at frisco.org, or via e-mail: meteor910@mindspring.com

You can see the car on Westerfield's web page: www.westerfield.biz Look for kit #3810. Take a look at the other Frisco cars, too. Al's stuff is nice!

Thanks. If anybody has questions, let me know.

The Westerfield #3610 HO Frisco USRA DS box car kit has been sold. Thanks to all who expressed an interest.

BTW, I've been told the Westerfield web site URL I included in the posting doesn't work. I just checked it, and you are right - all I get is a blank page. I know the URL is correct as I was on it several times over the past three days buying the #3860 kit. Try again later. They are likely doing site maintenance tonight (Sunday).
