Edit 4/15/2024: The caboose was formerly located in downtown on the northeast quadrant of West Broadway Street and North Webb Street in Webb City, MO. It was relocated around 2000 from Webb City. It was then located for several years at a business called the Country Caboose, 1100 North Prospect Avenue, Duenweg (Joplin), Jasper County, MO. Duenweg is on the southeast edge of Joplin, MO. When that business closed in 2009 the car was donated to the Wheaton Historical Society for use with their newly rebuilt Missouri & North Arkansas (M&NA) depot. It was moved from the Joplin area to Wheaton, MO on 12/1/2009. It is currently located adjacent to the east of the Wheaton Historical Society and Depot Museum, 311 East Main Street, Wheaton, MO 64874. Caboose SLSF 1138 Caboose SLSF 1138 on display in Lebanon, MO. Photograph dated 3/29/2000. Edit 4/15/2024: Caboose had been on display in the city's Atchley Park, 1805 Lynn Street, Lebanon, MO 65536. The city did not want to maintain the caboose, nor be exposed to the associated general liability exposure. Fortunately, they had the foresight to sell the caboose instead of destroying the car. The caboose was purchased by and relocated to a caboose and cabin lodging facility. It is now located just uphill, north of the wye connection of the Eureka Springs and North Arkansas Railway. This car is now known as Caboose 103. Accommodations include a secluded wooded area with private deck, hot tub, in caboose bathroom with shower and double bed that sleeps 2. There are 2 other separate cabooses and a depot themed cabin nearby on the larger property. They too feature similar amenities and accommodations. The caboose is now located at Livingston Junction Cabooses, County Road 222, Eureka Springs, AR 72632. Caboose SLSF 1144 Caboose SLSF 1144 is located in Frisco, TX. Photograph dated 4/7/1998. Edit 4/15/2024: Frisco donated the caboose to the city to celebrate the nation's Bi-Centennial in 1976. For a number of years it served as a museum then as the Chamber of Commerce office. The caboose has been relocated and is currently on display on a short section of track with a 2-8-0 Consolidation type steam locomotive. Just to the east is the Frisco's Ft. Worth Subdivision main line. It is adjacent to the Frisco Heritage Depot, 6499 Page Street, Frisco, TX 75034. Caboose SLSF 1160 Caboose SLSF 1160 at the Liberty Land Amusement Park in Memphis, TN. Photograph dated 3/30/2000 Edit 4/15/2024: The caboose was originally sold in the 1960s to the Liberty Land Amusement Park in Memphis, TN. They placed it in the park where it was used as an office and rest area. The car was remove from the park and placed in the Shelby County Public Works Department grounds. It was sold in 2007 and moved west to Ft. Smith, AR. Members of the Arkansas Boston Mountains Chapter of the National railway Historical Society (NRHS) were instrumental in cosmetically restoring the caboose. It is currently on public on display. I'm trying to find the origins of the Bay-window caboose number 1184. It seems that it was a rebuild by Frisco from a Frisco built 1100, ex-10-26 series perhaps. What makes more unusual is the caboose has a "Radio Equipped" stencil on the bay. Although typically it has plywood sides and distinctive high end windows. Any help would be appreciated for the book. SLSF 1100 Series - 2001 I'm guessing this is an 1100 series caboose. All I know for certain is it's a wood sheathed caboose, and it's located in a small salvage yard at Nichols Photos taken November 20,2001
Caboose SLSF 1192 To Roger477 Restoration work has commenced in 2002 on caboose SLSF 1192 in Willow Springs, MO. I have photographed it and measured all lettering and logos extensively. The Spring Pack stencils near the wheels are almost completely illegible. I am making stencils for this caboose and the restoration effort. Do you or anyone else have information on the area that is nearly illegible? Cabooses SLSF 1171 in Aurora , MO and SLSF 1134 in Monett, MO might have the information, but I cannot tell. I have been recalled to active duty and sure would appreciate any help. I have drawn all markings in CAD and can furnish to interested parties at cost of media and shipping only.
