Please check me on this, but it appears that the only Frisco U30Bs to get Pyle national Gyralites were numbers SLSF 844 and higher.

    Correct.

The nose gyralites showed up on the April, 1973 U-Boat order starting with SLSF 844 and were mounted on all subsequent GE U and -7 series units.

It was a different mounting than used on the EMD's. The Atlas and Athearn U30Bs have the correct nose mounting box housing, but have an incorrect dual sealed beam light fixture. A simple way to fix that is to get Sunrise Enterprises part H-109, Walthers 695-109, which has the correct single light face cover plate. Put a MV lens in it, or drill it out and use a small bulb or LED.

The Sunrise casting is not real fine, but it is adequate, and I do not know of another. There was a model supply firm about ten years ago that offered a better casting, but they went out of business. I bought one, used it and went back to Walthers for a couple additional ones. Alas, out of stock, and out of business.

You could slice up a Utah Pacific or one of the other EMD style gyralite mounts and use the single light, but that is a lot of work. You also could trim down Detail Associates part LT-1001, Walthers 229-1001, which is plastic, but the face of the gyralite looks more like the style used on the EMD fixture.

    Keith,

Agree, I have a set and they are very nice.

But, they are the style used on EMDs, not U-boats.

I guess you could cut off the face of the gyralight and use that, but not the housing.
