  1. Hey guys, I haven't posted here in at least a couple years but I am a lurker from time to time. I have been getting a few frisco models done anyhow and figured I would share a few. Here is 848, basically stock except a few FRISCO details added and some weathering. I combined a few proto photos for this to make it a little more interesting. Enjoy, I will post a couple more threads too with some other projects, and try to make more frequent visits here! Thanks,Steve Hurt

While it may appear that you "over did" the weathering, I can tell you that I worked on some 800's (25s and 30s) that were just that oily. We had to wear gloves when using the hand rails to protect out hands from the oil. Of course while the diesel shop hostler helper was required to clean up the oily engines, they were not required to wash the sides. This was done some, but not every time. I guess I am saying that you did a great job of weathering an engine in an extreme oily state.

I like it Steve!! Great weathering, I enjoy the O/W paint but man it was susceptible to showing everything that landed on it. I have a question for you. Can you do a detailed, step by step process on how you did the exhaust burns on the hood. I got some newer stuff I would like to give that treatment.
    Thanks for showing us.

  7. Thank you very much guys. I appreciate the good words for sure and am glad you enjoy it. Rich this is HO, most of my projects are but I will try any if I find something interesting. Tom, I would be glad to show you what I did, since I don't come here often, where do you think I should post it? This thread or another area? I have an AC4400 that is about to get the burn, I can photgraph it as I go. Its only a nights work. Thanks for the input Terry, I was young when I saw these in person but the pics are usually showing them pretty grubby.

    Thanks again, Steve
