Here are some shots of U-Boats at the High Street service track in the late 1970s.

    Enjoy!

High Street yard is in Oklahoma City, just south of downtown.

The name of the yard was East Yard, not High Street.

It was my understanding that the original yard was south east of Union depot and when the depot was built the yard was moved east, thus 'East Yard'. The highway over pass was called Byers Street and now is South Lincoln Boulevard.

High Street crossed the yard on a grade crossing about 2/3rds of the way towards the I-35 overpass. High Street was the road truckers used to access the piggyback ramp and automobile ramp.

Trucks would be backed up 5 & 6 deep waiting on the crossing to be cleared. Most of the employees used that crossing also. That was the only crossing that accessed the yard office on the North side of the yard. It also provided access to the diesel shop and re[air in place (RIP track.

The round objects on GP7 SLSF 520 were spark arresters.

I do not know the story behind them but that is what they are.
