I was wondering about a certain spot just north of the Osage River. State Hwy B currently crosses there. Was there a tunnel here or the land cut away?

I've attached a pic of the DEM map I've been working with. The data for the DEM is fairly new. Maybe the land was filled in or the land was cut away at one time. You can see the bridge in the distance over the Osage River.

Looking at Google Earth I'm guessing something man made for the highway or the reservoir made a change in the topography after the railroad grade abandonment. Could anyone confirm this?

The fill for State Hwy B that you are looking at was added by the Corps as part of the Truman Lake project to get the highway above the flood pool of the lake. Karl may have already posted an old topo map on this site that would confirm.

That is what I suspected but wasn't sure. A tunnel would have been nice but it just doesn't fit ;)
