Yep, it's an LC-100AT decoder. DO NOT hook up the speaker w/o the capacitor. Incidently, your choice of airhorn is limited to three general types, chosen by CV115: 0 - One chime, 1 - Three Chime, 2 - Five Chime.
Bill, in answer to your questions regarding horn and headlight functions for the new Dual 567 TSU-1000 decoder for the E8 diesels: Headlight: 1) The lower unit on the front was the headlight - it should be connected to the white wire from the decoder (assuming that you dispose of the original light board in the Proto 2000 E8s). 2) CV49 should be set to 1 for this light. Mars Light: 1)The upper unit was the Mars Light - connect it to the brown wire from the decoder (assuming that you dispose of the original light board in the Proto 2000 E8s). 2) CV33 should be set to 17 to make it come on with the headlight 3) CV51 should be set to 2 to select Mars Light function 4) CV59 should be set to 5 to set the wobble rate correctly for the Mars Light. Horns: This thread gives insight to horn installations from the notes of Alan Schmidt: http://www.frisco.org/shipit/index.php?threads/ron-chamberlain-horn-data.4164/ According to them the horns on the E8s were a combination of the Leslie A200 and Leslie A125. CV115 should be set to 4 to get the A200/A125 pair.
Well, just came in from the program track, wow, now that is a different horn. Fortunately I wired it correctly. I would have never figured the CV-33, that was really neat. The wobble on the mar's light, nice for you to give that to me. I am headed to the library to print the manuals now. You really got me fired up. For those of you that haven't experienced all of the wonderful things modern decoders can do you are really missing something. Tsunami's and other sound decoders make locomotive literally come to life. As far a lighting effects are concerned, TCS is in my opinion more realistic than Soudtraxx, but that is just my opinion.
Now that I have had more time I looked through the manual Keith provided. There isn't a list of horns like on the new engines. It's either 1, 3 or 5 chime. I will go with 5 chime so CV115 = 2. Well see if this works. Hopefully this is the correct manual. If not I'll keep looking. Ethan
After working with CV115 I have found the following on the 3 horn options. None of them sound like the Leslie S5T. The 1 chime sounds like a transition era switcher, 3 chime I can't even categorize, 5 chime is a modern horn. So I'm using the 3 chime horn. I have some more CV's to tweak, but it looks like the manual Keith provided is the correct one. Thank you guys for you help. Ethan
