Just a Quick question . Does anyone know, how many, and what type of locos had the triple F logo on the tenders? Thanks, Dan
Thanks,Tom. Well, shoot! Since a 4-8-4 is not available in large scale, it would not be totally correct for another type . I saw an "O" scale set at the bay , and I figured I could blow it up and copy it ! Ah, well ! Dan
I wish model manufacturers would make a "generic" 4-8-4 that would be close enough (And that could be re-detailed) to the "look" of engines of several different railroads. Perhaps as if there might have been a "USRA" 4-8-4 locomotive. Tom G.
I have several large scale Pacifics. I may just "imagineer " a Pacific with the logo, just because!! Dan
On occasion, I have wondered why the Frisco did not place the FFF Wing on the 4300's or the 4400's. Those locomotives were large enough to "carry it off". This link shows what happens when a good idea goes bad. Not for the faint of heart. You have been warned. http://www.brasstrains.com/Classic/...ited-Toby-SLSF-Frisco-4-8-2-4403-Custom-Green
I see what Karl means. Not prototypical, alas, and too overstated. Something a little more balanced would have looked very good IMHO.
Actually, I sort of like it. I would call that engine the "Frisco all-American Georgian Locomotive." Something for everybody here, especially if you only have budget for one engine. Ken McElreath
In an attempt to look for the redeeming qualities of that model, I do think that the oil bunker is nicely done. I'd never thought of it, but you're right on. The Frisco Faster Freight would have been a nice touch on the rebuilt Mountains. Best Regards,
