Elevated Equipment Box in Cape Girardeau

Elevated equipment box; west side of tracks at S. Freeze siding. River Division (in Cape Girardeau city limits), around MP 130.5.

I recall reading in an old FMIG newsletter that these were apparently installed in the floodplain of the River Division in the Frisco's twilight, in order to protect the equipment from the adjacent Mississippi River's floodwaters.

All photos taken by yours truly, 12-26-1994.

Lineside elevated equipment at N. Brand Siding

View of lineside elevated equipment box (apparently constructed during the Frisco's twilight), with microwave antenna tower. N. Brand siding on the River Division, St. Louis Sub near Neely's Landing, MO. This siding was named after the grandfather of Frisco Folk Karl Brand (Karl, hope this is correct!). The Mississippi River is in the background (you can make out a tow boat with barges); the lower "slough" in front of the tracks had stagnant pools of water and mud from recent flooding of the river.

Telegraph/Signal Line Pole, Cross Arms, Line Wire Junction Box - Chaffee, MO

Telegraph/signal line pole, cross arms and line wire junction box.

The pole line wire junction box houses some sort of equipment that would require it to be mounted high and accessible with a service platform.

This is adjacent to the former depot site.

    Chaffee MO.

    Photograph taken 1994.

    View looking Northeast.

Dispatcher Telephone Call Shed - Chaffee, MO

This is what I am assuming to be a phone box of some sort.

I have seen it in pictures, adjacent to the passenger depot prior to the latter's demolition after the merger.

This box is adjacent to a telegraph pole that has a smaller, flat box with a platform mounted on the cross arms (see below).

I'd be curious to see if anyone can confirm this equipment's usage or purpose.

This is the first item I scratch built for my eventual HO Chaffee Yard.

Fixed Approach Signal - Railroad Crossing - Durant, Ok

Fixed approach signal for railroad crossing.

This signal warns enginemen of the approaching MKT crossing. The reverse side of the semaphore blade is a mirror image, but black with a white stripe. Grade crossing just beyond signal is South 9th Avenue. View is looking east southeast along the Frisco Akinda-Ardmore (A-A) Subdivision at Durant, OK, MP 611.0. Photograph taken January 1982.

This would make a distinctive and easy to make model detail.

I noticed some tell tales in this thread.

I just shot these photos today in Seattle, WA.

I guess it's ex Northern Pacific?

    Enjoy!
