I posted some photos of a Frisco 4-6-0 that I finished a week or so ago and somebody asked if I took in process photos. I've never done that, but will on this one. This one will be a Frisco 4100-4134 class 2-8-2, a coalburner. What you see here is a PFM USRA Light 2-8-2 running gear with Baker valve gear installed. Trailing truck casting is custom. The tender is from a PFM Toby Frisco 1520 class 4-8-2 and is being converted to coal. The bunker sides are reinforcing for the tender side additions that will be made and added. Cab is scratchbuilt as is the boiler. Sand dome is an old special casting as is the smokebox door on a scratchbuilt smokebox front. The headlight is a special casting with the number plate/bracket cast as one piece. Sagami motor with a PSC gearbox on an idler arm. Had room for a flywheel on this one, so I made one to go on it. I don't think this is the next one that will go through the shops. There is a 2-10-2, another 4-6-0, an 0-6-0, a 2-8-0 and a 4-6-2 all waiting their turn. The line is thinning out. I've finished two in the last couple months, a 4-6-0 and a Hudson. Needless to say, all of the above is Frisco.
Excellent work, Don. Excellent. How are you fixed on Sagami 16x30's? I have some leftover from my HO steam days.
I'm fresh out of Sagamis. I've also been using some flat sided can motors that I bought on ebay, but I think I only have one or two of them left.
Don: I have one NWSL S16306-9 motor, and three of the excellent Sagami "Chrome Cans" (16 x 31) motors. I also have three NWSL flywheels for same. PM me if you're interested in them.
Cast by you or another? Looks pretty good to me. I presume that the doghouse is custom/scratchbuilt as well - seems your drawings used to be around here at some time or another. Thanks for the "present at the creation" photo, Don! Best Regards,
