A local modeler friend, Kevin Leyerle, had this small 3" x 5" AAR Handbook. The images caught the eye of Mark Davidson (mark) because of the obvious Frisco locomotives and cabooses due to paint scheme or other markings. But in looking at all the pictures, it appears that all the images were staged in the West Yard at Springfield. What do you all think? Unfortunately some of the images with objects in the skyline and background did not scan so well. But in a couple, the Busch Elevator, the yard tower, the Rip Shed and Shop are definitely seen and although the railroad name reporting marks had been edited out, many of the box cars are undoubtedly Frisco equipment.

The engine on pg 23 is definitely a Frisco unit. Didn't remove the lettering.

AAR put out some sort of promotional RR booklet when I was in grade school. I kept staring at a photo of a big cracking tower sitting on several flat cars and thinking it looked familiar. All RR logos and ID markings were blacked out.
Then it dawned on me (finally) that it was shot across the yard from a hill across from Lindenwood roundhouse because I finally recognized what the engines on the ready track were. Wonder if I still have that one.

The caboose on p. 19 appears to show the "SOUTHEAST...SOUTHWEST" at the bottom of the cupola. Neat find, and thanks for sharing...Don, I think I might have the one to which you refer or at least one that shows Lindenwood. Heaven only knows where I've placed mine.

    Best Regards,

Keith that looks like the East Lead, with the speed rip in the background.
