This one's a submission by one of the group. It's not a true railroad puzzle, but it has geographic twist that is unique to the Frisco. The Frisco's premier train was the Meteor. Coincidentally, but not related, the Frisco traversed some Meteor impact craters. Where are the craters, and which routes went through them?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_craters_on_Earth lists two in SW Texas and one in Arizona, none near a former Frisco line. Doug
Wikipedia lists only what they state as the most noteable. I found 2 in Missouri, 1 in Oklahoma and 1 in Alabama. Could it be one in Missouri? Bob Wintle Parsons, Ks.
There is reported evidence of a meteorite impact at a place called Crooked Creek that is a short distance ENE of Cooks, MO, on the Salem Branch.
That would be the Weaubleau-Osceola structure, as described in these webpages: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weaubleau-Osceola_structure http://www.lpi.usra.edu/meetings/largeimpacts2003/pdf/4111.pdf SLSF Clinton Subdivision trains traversed this area for many years, as did the trains of the KCC&S/"Leaky Roof". I'm surprised Karl Brand hasn't chimed in on this... unless he was the one who suggested it in the first place.... I'm enjoying this monthly Frisco-related trivia quiz. Keep it up!
