What has happened to the "look" of this chat board in the last few days? Formerly after you clicked "What's New," the fresh postings would appear and then as you read them, they disappeared until they were read and the note appeared that there were no new posts and you could click "here" and the several most recent posts would appear again and stay for a few hours.
Now, when you click a post it changes color, but doesn't disappear, the titles stay visable and you can't go back and see other recent posts. Anyone else notice this??

    Thanks, Tom

I have not noticed anything like that Tom. We certainly haven't changed anything in that regard. The "new posts" listing will change somewhat in the updated version of vBulletin, which we will be upgrading to, but right now, nothing should have changed for you.

Tom, as Charlie indicated, there have been no changes made, and I have never seen the behavior that you describe as "Formerly". What you describe as what is now happening is what I have seen in the past. For the most part, I enter the web site through the Portal page and right click on the threads and open them in a new tab. That way I work my way through the new stuff and then refresh the Portal page after having been through the updated threads.

Those of you that like the new posts on the front page and the "what's new" feature will love the "activity stream" that is part of the upgraded vBulletin.

Tom, I have noticed the same as you have mentioned.
I always go to "new posts" and before - after I had opened a post - and then go back to new posts, the post I had read disappeared from the list. Lately, it seems, some times the post disappeared and sometimes the posts stay but slightly change color. I just thought someone was making "changes" to the software.

Charlie - per your last post to this thread - I hope not too much changes.
I have been trying to find my way around Trainboard, but I do not find it as easy to use as Frisco.

    It's the same software.

The thread titles are supposed to be bolded when there are unread messages and not bold when the thread has been read.

Charlie - That is exactly the way it is today.
In the past - The post would disappear from the list once read.
I like the way it is today; If I want to go back and re-read today's new posts - I can.

I'm not sure what to tell you on that. Since I took the administrative lead, the only changes I have made are minor technical software tweaks that no one would notice. I don't believe any of them would have any effect on the behavior of the new posts page. What you describe I believe to be the designed behavior.

Well something HAS changed! The worst thing is that fairly recent posts (The last day or so) disappear only after a few hours breaking the continuity of the chats. Anyone not checking every few hours misses most of the posts. I only know how to retrieve my own posts (I can't retrieve anyone else's if their posts have disappeared and I don't know who they are!!??). If posts won't remain visable for a reasonable period (I'd suggest a day and a half or so), all the good features of the website/chat group aren't of much value. Might as well be one of the silly Yahoo groups!!

Nothing has changed for me at all. The site works just like it did a couple months ago.
I wonder what is going on for people?

Must be some kind of settings on my PC??? Computers are indeed the "Devil's Instrument"...

Edit: Since I wrote my last post 27 minutes ago, two of the four posts that were visable then now have disappeared??

Well, I haven't changed anything but this is cookie based; meaning that your activity affects what you see. It is not a static page that everyone sees the same.

However, check this link for the last 24 hours of activity: http://www.frisco.org/vb/search.php?do=getdaily&contenttype=vBForum_Post

I am not sure why there is no link to that on the menu but I will get one on there soon.

A new feature coming soon is called "activity stream" and you will like that.

That link you just posted Charlie shows what I used to see. If that link were permanent it would be helpful.

    Thanks, Tom

Yes, like I say, I am not sure why it is not present on the menu bar. It must have gotten lost at some point. I will try to restore it. I know I've mentioned it but the new activity stream in the next update of vBulletin really lets you see new material in a way that has not been here before. That will be coming very soon. You can see it in action on TrainBoard if you like. That will be coming here as soon as I can run the upgrade.
