Should probably put forth an intro thread if I'm going to post here.

Walker County, AL, native; though always living closer to the SOU tracks, I've lived not far from the rails in Walker County my entire 25 years thus far. Lots of interest in the history of the old KCM&B rails through my area from the Mississippi line to Birmingham. This forum has proved extraordinary in finding historical information such as milepost info and depot plans. Am always on the trail, whether by Google Earth or by travel, of surviving railroad infrastructure. The Jasper depot is gone, as far as I am aware, but there's plenty of other discoveries to be had! I hope to get out and about again this fall when the weather is a little cooler and explore along the old Frisco line through this area by road, to see what I can find and photograph. Bridges, potential surviving railroad structures, old ROW, et cetera - it's not exactly discovering and exploring a new continent, but for the historical value, it feels that way to me. And with the relatively new walking trail from Dora to Sumiton on the old DeBardeleben Branch ROW, there's never been a better time!

Welcome aboard - with a couple of MKT rails-to-trails in my neck of the woods, it's not unusual to see leftover parts and pieces here and there, or the occasional line pole remnant. Enjoy your walks and feel free to share any photos of any remaining Frisco physical plant in the area.

    Best Reards,
