I hired out with Frisco RR in 1971 and established my seniority at Mobile, AL 8/30/71. I had gotten out of the AirForce in April of that year and had moved back to Pensacola, FL.

My dad suggested I go down and talk with a friend, John Montgomery, Chief Clerk in the Sales Office. I did and followed up with a call to Mr. Roch and the rest is history.

Worked various agencies from Pensacola to Linden, AL from 1971 to 1978. Moved to Springfield, MO during the first of many consolidations to the Centralized Billing Center. Worked their til 1984 and moved to Ft.Worth with the BN Railroad. Another move to Houston and then back to Ft.Worth where we have been since merger of BN and ATSF in 1995.

I'm interested in pictures of the Stations/Depots on the Pensacola and ATN lines north to Linden, AL.

I plan to retire next year and would like to collect some pictures of those agencies (circa 1970's).

Let me know if you worked in the area and might have any pictures you can share.

    Welcome Aboard!
Hope you make the connection here to fulfill your search.

One of the very few telegraphers/agents that I have met became a close personal friend because he took me under his wing and taught me how to fire and operate a live steam locomotive. This same gentleman has one of the largest collections of photographs of steam locomotives out there - most of which he took personally.

Many will recognize his name - Harold K. (Kay) Vollrath.

    Roger,

    Welcome aboard!

You might want to use the "search" function on this site and enter the station name to see if there are any posts of interest in your search. Also, hopefully others will respond with additional information to help you in your search.

    Again, welcome.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks!

Welcome. I also hired out in 1971 in Tulsa as a fireman and retired this last Feb. You will really enjoy retiring when it comes time:). I was fortunate that I did not have to move around the system to keep a job for which I was very thankful. My father in law was Neil Wright who was chief clerk in Tulsa when he retired in 1980. Did you know him, or at least recognize his name? Terry

Thanks for your suggestion. I also plan to contact the Archive Manager at our headquarters here in Ft.Worth. I would suspect there are many pictures of Frisco railroad stations and personnel.

I worked in Springfield as a Clerk from 1978 to 1984... I knew a few people who started their seniority at Tulsa, one was Peggy Arthur. Also, believe Karen Clay moved from Springfield to Tulsa in the early 80's... Her sister works in our Customer Support center here in Ft. Worth.
I can't say that I recall your father in law though he was working about the same time I was in the GOB at Springfield. Took a job at the Yard Office in 1981.
