Start saving your pennies and selling off those unneeded organs! Precision Scale Models is planning to import all three of the Streamlined Pacific Firefly engines. The project is in the early planning stages so it will probably be around a year before they show up.

Cool! More "Roman-nosed Mohican Indian Warriors" as Joe called them.

HO I suppose? N?? Will they do the cars? The original Firefly train had three unique cars--all would have to be kitbashed!

Yeehaw, my dream locomotive. One day when I grow up, I am gonna get me one... Maybe I ought to cancel my U30B order. I'd rather have STEAM.

Brad, was there any mention of date?

    Best,

Does someone have the link to the website? The Precision Scale Models' site I keep getting looks like a manufacturer of garden scale trains?? It that the correct one?

    Is it one of these?

    psc1.virtualfocus.com/

    or

    www.psmescale.com/

    or some other?

    Thanks, Tom

The website is www.precisionscaleco.com however it does not show them on the future or the reserve list yet, but I'm told them will be adding them in the near future. As far as a delivery date it will probably be late Summer next year, but I would guess that would depend largely on the response they get in terms of reservations. I though I would mention to my contact the possibility of including cars, since originally it was a short train. However with the price of brass these days I'm sure it would not be a cheap set. My contact did say they are committed to producing an accurate model and that they will be on the same level as today's brass imports. It is my hopes that we can provide him with enough information and enthusiasm for the project that they would consider other locomotives and possibly cars for the Frisco.

Are there any fairly well detailed photos or sketches of the loco's? I just got a " basket case" pacific in large scale, and am hoping to find something detailed to go by. There is a drawing in " Frisco Power", but just nominal dimensions.
    Thanks for any input.

Wow. Let's see, the world is supposed to end in 2012, probably just as these platinum and gold plated locos ship. When the world ends in 2012, hell may freeze over, too. I am going to pass. :-\

That's an ALMOST believable price for the whole Firefly train! The brass importers must think we just rode in on the last load of cabbage...

Egad. I'll concur with Mike. I might be able to afford the Brio version.

This is somewhat timely, as I read this morning an article on the importance of proper insurance coverage for high-value collections.

    Best Regards,

Any one remember the MSRP of the 4-8-4's by Glacier Park? Sounds like these will be just as expensive. But they will look beautiful. I've seen one of the sunshine (?) brass models of these painted and it was a beaut. It'd be nice to have one to add to the collection. Hmmmmmmmm, if only some one would make these in plastic so they where MUCH more affordable.......

Wow! $1787? No thank you. I love the Frisco, but that is insane. I'll build a 4-6-2 that will be as close to the Frisco as possible and get a lot more enjoyment out of it...

Anyone looking for the Hallmark version? Bad paint job - not finished. Make me a fair offer at wlhoss@aol.com.

Hey Bill, you will probably have better luck selling your FireFly if you list it under SWAP MEET. Thanks.

PS We still love the SLSF cabooses you did for us at AMB.

    Hi Rick,

I'm glad you liked the cabooses, hope you were able to sell all of them. I started one of the LCL caboose, but I've never had time to finish it. I've got my own company now, Lake Junction Model, LLC. Where do I find the SWAP MEET? It's been awhile since I've looked in on this group.

A while back there was an E7 A-A Texas Special diesel set on consignment at Caboose Hobbies for $350.00. Some nut had painted them for the Milwaukee Road but even with a strip-down paint removal job was a bargan as they were built in Japan by KMT. If I were going to model in HO I would have made the purchase.

I can´t afford the curent import brass but still wouldn´t pay these prices. Must be nice if you can afford them though!
